Puppy & Kitten Services
Healthy Start for Puppies & Kittens
Welcoming a new puppy or kitten into your home is an exciting time! Your adorable new family member will bring a smile to everyone's face.
Along with this excitement comes the responsibility of being a good pet owner. You will need to bring your new pet to your veterinarian for routine wellness exams and preventive care, such as vaccinations, spaying or neutering procedures, and even microchipping.
Your veterinarian is here to provide the guidance you need to care for your puppy or kitten during this first year of their life. We will also take steps to help your furry friend relax during the appointment by providing a comfortable environment where we interact with them calmly.
What to Expect During the First Visit
We recommend that puppies attend their first veterinary appointment at around six weeks of age and kittens at around eight weeks of age.
Examinations & Diagnostics
During the first veterinary visit, your puppy or kitten will receive a complete physical exam to assess their overall health, look for signs of congenital issues, and check for parasites.
Kittens will also have a blood test to check for feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).
Parasite Prevention & Vaccinations
Deworming medications and the first round of puppy or kitten vaccinations will also be provided during this visit.
Follow-Up Appointments
Your puppy or kitten will need to have three to four veterinary visits during the first four months of their life. These visits allow your veterinarian to monitor your pet's health and administer vaccines on schedule.
